It is imperative that you know the difference between virtual reality and augmented reality so that you can understand the difference between these 3 gadgets. Virtual reality is a full immersive experience in any virtual world where is augmented reality is the modified view of the real world. In a virtual reality the real world is completely shut out so that you can focus on an entirely virtual experience. On the other hand, augmented reality overlays the virtual elements on top of your real-world view.

 Meta Quest 3

The new name of Oculus Quest 3 is Meta Quest 3 because Meta dropped the Oculus brand name. It was expected to arrive sometime in 2022 but it was noticeably absent from the Meta connect October 2022. The recent interview of Mark Zuckerberg suggests that Meta Quest 3 could come in 2023. In the Stratechery interview, Zuckerberg said that the Meta Quest 3 will cost between $300 and $500.

According to Brad Lynch, a VR analyst, the Meta Quest 3 will have uOLED displays. It is expected that the resolution of the Quest 3 is 4,128 by 2,208 pixels or 2,064 by 2,208 pixels per eye. This shows a hoping 30% upgrade over the Meta quest 2’s 1,920 by 1,832 pixels per eye.  The Quest 3 might also have an increased Ram and storage to 512 SSD and 12GB RAM.

If Meta Quest 3 can deliver truly immersive virtual experience, then we might see that the worlds of augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality will become mainstream.
