According to Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran has successfully launched a military satellite into orbit for the first time. The satellite was named Nur (Light), was carried by a three-stage Qased launcher and reached an orbit of 425km (264 miles). The rocket Qased was lifted off from the Markazi Dessert in Central Iran on 22 April. The IRGC also announced that Nour is currently circling the Earth successfully.
The successful launch was shown in this video from Iran’s Tasnim News Agency and PressTV. In a statement researcher Fabian Hinz of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in California told Al-Jazeera that the Iranian media posted images of the launch which indicate that the launch was originated from an IRGC base near Shahroud which is about 205 miles (330 km) northeast of the Iranian capital of Tehran. Moreover, the footage broadcasted by the TV showed that Qased carrier was inscribed with a Quran verse: “Glory be to Him, who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not equal to it.”
At the same time, the United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Iran had violated a United Nation resolution and needed “to be held accountable”. In other words, he said that Iran communication satellite launch is against secretary He said this shortly after President Donald Trump tweet with an instruction to “shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea”.
What does Iran say about satellite Noor Launch?
According to IRGC’s commander-in-chief, Maj-Gen Hossein Salami, the force had taken “a major step in promoting the scope of [its] strategic information capabilities”. According to Fars News, he further said that “Today, we are looking at the Earth from the sky, and it is the beginning of the formation of a world power,”
The IRGC Aerospace Force commander Brig-Gen Amir-Ali Hajizadeh informed the media that the Qased “used a compound of liquid and solid propellants” and declared: “Only superpowers have such capability”.
Various Iranian officials congratulated the IRGCC, one of them was Iranian Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi and stressed that Iran’s Space Programme was defensive.
Even though, Iran’s previous space launches were not successful in the past year and in February. This satellite launch was successful and has shocked the world about their capabilities. Both Iran and US have come neck to neck earlier this year when a U.S drone strike killed the Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and Iran retaliated a few days later with missile strikes on multiple sites in Iraq which housed American troops.
The whole world has their keen eye on Iran’s nuclear and space program advancements as well as U.S reaction to it. For the sake of peace in the world we should pray that these two countries stay far away from war and promote peace. As far as rest of the World’s Space program is concerned, why not read On International Space Station, Human Research Crew is ready to Depart.
